[chorus]
The Tribal Government, Tribal Government.
We’re free because we fought.
Three parts of government,
Principal Chief, Tribal Council, and Tribal Court
[verse1]
In North Carolina, tribes are free,
to have their own government, you see.
Three branches help them every day.
Working in their special way.
First, the Chief, who leads the way.
The Executive Branch works every day.
Making sure laws are in place.
Helping the tribe with a smiling face.
[verse2]
Next, the Tribal Council, a thoughtful team.
The Legislative Branch with a dream.
They write the laws, both big and small.
Deciding what’s best for one and all.
Then the Tribal Court, so wise and fair.
The Judicial Branch is always there.
Solving problems, making peace.
Ensuring justice will never cease.
All three branches work as one,
for the tribe, they get things done.
Together they help the tribe to thrive.
Keeping traditions and culture alive.
