She changed her name from Isabella Baumfree.

Sojourner Truth was born in 1843.

She was born a slave then eventually escaped slavery.

Sojourner Truth spoke out for women’s rights.

Sojourner Truth spoke out for equal rights.

During the Civil War, she helped recruit Black soldiers

to fight for the Union and President Abraham Lincoln took notice
